I set myself a few goals at the start of the year and been tweaking them over the past month, including adding a whole new site to the mix. I thought i'd share my targets with everyone here, firstly it'll be handy to document my targets and secondly i can update you all on the progress too.

Site 1: www.buyandgo.co.uk

By end of 2008 i want the site to be consistently achieving the following:

1000 UV's a day
Earn £32.88 a day (this equates to £1000 a month / £12000 per annum)
Achieve top 5 rankings for the following phrases (Discount Codes, Voucher Codes, Promotional Codes, Discount Vouchers and a couple of other combinations with lesser significance)

At first i thought these would be a very, very tough target to crack, but initial progress since the new year has been very encouraging and as of todays date the sites stats are approximately:

125 UV's a day

Monthly income of around £150+
A couple of top 10 and mostly top 20 rankings for its primary keywords

Encouraging foundations to build on, but then i decided i did'nt want to put all my eggs in one basket so widened the net of my targets to include a second site, this time a completely separate industry but one i've successfully SEO'd before.

Site 2: www.firsttimebuyersite.co.uk

By the end of 2008 i want this site to be consisently achieving the following:

500 UV's a day
£16.44 a day income

I've not set myself any ranking targets for this site, and the site, although based on a domain from my portfolio, is newly developed. Current stats are pretty much at ZERO for everything.

If anyone has any pointers they like to offer, free links they'd like to give or of course if anyone has any questions about how i'm SEO'ing the sites etc,  i'd be glad to hear from you all.

I agree Ash, it does seem a crackable market place. My site is doing 30-50 UV's per day and I've not really done any IBL campaign or promoted much, I just add a bit of content when the right discount codes are available.

In all seriousness your post makes an interesting read and it's refreshing for people to be so open about their targets for a site.

All the best with your Shopping Voucher Codes site and keep everyone informed as to how it's going.

If you read alot of affiliate marketing blogs, you'd be lead to believe its an over saturated market, but its really not that bad, realistically there may be 5-6 'real' players and a fair amount of PPC.

There is one site head and shoulders above the others in terms of SEO, and looking at their backlinks and SERPS they have a serious budget.

I want to make them public so i can't backtrack on them. It'll be interesting to see where i (or the sites) am in 11 months time...

Well, we're half way into the year.

How are you boys getting on with your targets?

Well i've done hardly anything on the first time buyer site, but perhaps i ought to look at this again given the tough economic climate at the moment.

Buyandgo.co.uk was going very well (and almost hit my target of £1k per month) but a think i pushed the links a little to hard, the site has now got a new domain name and has been 301'd to VoucherCodes.me.uk.

Income is'nt great at the moment and probably around the same as when i originally posted (£150) but the spikes have been encouraging and i still think i can hit the £1k by Christmas, i'm trying at the same time to build up some smaller sites to spread the risk if the big earner goes missing in the serps.

I think you can surpass the £1k mark before xmas Ash....

In reply to Tony I think I'm doing OK, but I dread a G-slap! I too am spreading the risk about, with one more site maturing and being developed and couple more with a little content just maturing and being ready to take the load should it be needed. It is hard work to fit in as a part-time hobby and I'm seriously thinking about jacking in the day job now.

Income wise: I've had a few affiliate bonuses recently, one being four figures. It's hard to gauge earnings but add together adsense and 5 third party affiliate sites I'm with it's definately on the rise, something just over £2,000 last month and already around £600 so far for July. But bear in mind more than half of this is Sky signups through my Digital TV blog/site, and I really ought to track it down to each site.

I think what we can all take from this is "Diversification and risk spreading is key". I'm now looking at building email lists, getting back into PPC sometime soon and when I go link building I'm looking at the web users standpoint - traffic & relevance.

Thanks for sharing ...

It seems like you're both on your way. Well done!

Not putting all your eggs in one basket is a very good idea Smiley

Well we are looking at you ash as we are new bie. We expect a lot from you. So will you please tell us your secrets step by step.

Rite now I am into blogspot.com mainly and earning money by posting at there with my adsense codes. But I am not satisfy with my performance and want to improve.

I heard and read from somewhere that people are earning even $500/daily from adsense. Is that true or possible ?
