Hey it has been a while since I have been around. I kind of left shortly after Dave passed.  It looks like a lot of spam has crept into the forum. I completely understand forums require so much time for very little $$.

I am still building sites. I started off trying to build a store, which was fairly successful, but filling orders every morning got old. I now just build sites and display google ads.

Anyone still around?

Hi Gid

I'm still around i think a few others are sporadically. I do keep meaning to clean the spam and try to resurruct the forum but never find the time! Having recently had the arrival of a little one, my time is even more stretched now!

Congrats on the little one Ash! I have 4 now, I think we are done  Undecided

I know how time consuming a forum can be. I ran one for a couple years at babywearing.com and dealing with spam was no fun. What i ended up doing was changing it so that i had to approve members. I put in a question box and asked them why they wanted to join. That filtered out about  90% of the requests.

Great idea Gid, i've just set it so i have to approve all new members, that will at least stop any more spam building up.

To be honest the forum needs a complete overhaul, revamp and then a relaunch. I might see if i can enlist the help of a couple of old members to assist.

It would be such a shame to see the forum finished but at the moment that is the way it is heading.

I am around.  Well to be truthfull  I located this place on this occasion a little bit by accident.
I was moderately surprised when I typed my user name and password and  I was recognised.

Now I am here I realy do need to say something. . To  record the occasion.

I have been spending less time on forums.  I handed in my moderator status at WPW.

I am finding  that  most of the topics regarding the web that I am interested in  hold zero value to forum members.  I am currently playing with my own  new forum and I am  trying out a different aproach  by  simply placing forum catagories on to html pages on my main sites - (so that the forum catagory page is pasted onto a host page)    The host page contains a password and no login is required.   This seems to confuse the spammers as they are unable to find the forum pages.    But users of the individual pages are presented with the correct forum section.  It sounds confusing . . But it is extremely simple.  Not that the forum can be called a resounding success. . .  It is slowly becoming a useful part of my site.

 Google cannot search it.
