I was just wondering last week why he'd not been on here for a while. My deepest condolences go to his family and friends too. He will be sadly missed on this forum.

Holy shit, no way.  That's awful news.  I'm going to miss his posts a lot, you never knew what was coming next and there were so many discussions about all sorts of crazy shit still to enjoy.  I don't really know what he was like in real life but I'm sure he'll be greatly missed.

RIP Dave.

Maybe send some flowers to his family?  I'm happy to contribute.

Hey, he never did send me that signed copy of his micheal fane book. Who'll be providing the bad jokes and pirate stories now? I feel strangely shell shocked.

Well, im shocked, i had no idea he was even ill, terribly sad news indeed.

In typical David style, i'm sure there is a css/code error causing one of his menus to go missing even now.

Shit guys that is a horrible bit of news! It took about 20 minutes for me to realise it was true! Cancer seems to be so prevalent in peoples lives at the moment, including mine. I'm glad he went quickly rather than suffering a slow and painful decline. My sincere condolences to his family...

Lost but not forgotten!

Now for the happy memories! How the hell do I get a copy of that book?! I've read most of it anyway thanks to the huge exerts which he posted! Seams fitting that I should take the time to read it all now...

I believe if you search for the adventures of michael fane it might be number 1 although those guys at Amazon may have kicked him in the number two spot. Having said that some bizzare random css/code error may have also pushed it down to number 3

The image of that pirate ship sailing off into the distance seems like a suitable metaphor for the moment and one that I think David would be happy with!

Although I never got to meet David in person. I genuinely considered him to be a friend. We had forum and email discussions about a wide range of topics, but mostly we talked about family.

David was truly a nice guy. He was genuine. He was caring.

He will be missed.

Sorry to return in such bad circumstances but as mentioned above I will be attending David funeral and if people want me to pass on condolences etc to Lesley Davids wife I will do so please PM/Email/IM me before monday.

David was an author, a marketer sometimes a pirate, sometimes a musician but always a friend and will be missed.

Cheers
Tim

In response to all of the messages of condolence, David's dear wife Leslie would like to express her sincere appreciation to all of his colleagues and friends here at SEOers.org.

I know he really enjoyed what he did. I'd often hear him burst out laughing and I'd call through to his office "haven't you got any work to do?". His answer was always the same "this is work!!!".

David got a great deal of pleasure, and sometimes downright fun, from his contact with all of you. If there's an internet in heaven I just know he'll be straight in organizing everyone.

Amidst this most difficult of times, I have found great comfort in the kind words and thoughts expressed by members of the many online communities in which he participated.

David would have been very humbled and honoured.

Dubbya, thanks for taking the time to post here and on other forums.

Are there any requests for the funeral, i (and i'm sure other members here) would like to send flowers, or a contribution towards a selected charity etc.

Second that Ash.

I'm glad his family are aware of his presence online and the impact he's had, I'm only here on this forum because of him after I was banned and he put in a word and got me reinstated.  Never a dull moment with him around.

I'm happy to contribute towards flowers or make a contribution to a charity that he would have approved of.

I've emailed Tim to see if he can find out what arrangements have been made.

I'm thinking we might be too late to organise flowers etc, but i'm sure we can have a whip round amongst ourselves, when we have details i'll send a global email around as i'm sure some people will not have heard the sad news yet.

If there's nothing being arranged with regards to donations maybe we should pick up the baton up on this one and set something up ourselves? Maybe with justgiving.com or something similar?

Good idea Matt. I'll keep you posted on this.

If we had to pick a charity ourselves, my vote would go to Cancer Research.

I will broach the subject with Leslie but personally I would be more inclined to go with donation to a charity given the short period till the funeral and it would be a more lasting tribute to David.
