A question of background about payment gateways, if VISA and MASTERCARD are worldwide accepted and renowned, and they work fine, why don’t they have a method for Money collect, or a way for payment receipt for individuals or small business? Why do they get in partnership with paypal, Moneybookers, alertpay and so on if the could treat the customer directly, and deal with the bank directly too?

[by the way moneybookers is based on the UK (and FSA regulated  police), and should work like a clock, anyway there’s a not so small bunch of complaints about it which I will discuss in another thread]

Visa and Mastercard are issued by banks, and not directly from the Visa or Mastercard companies. Many of the banks also have their own merchant services that allow retailers to process the credit card transactions. Some of these banks also have the ability to process web transactions.

But because of security concerns I personally think that it's better to stick with the companies that specialize in web transactions. In most cases they also offer the best transaction rate, even on small volumes of transactions.
