Orite brethren!

Can anyone recommend the best course of action when setting up an affiliate site for a company who aren't enrolled with any affiliate networks?

In other words... has anyone had any experience of dealing with those sort of business arrangements without a third party, such as affiliate window, being involved? What sort of tracking facility did you use? Did it work out ok? Has anyone got links to good reads on the matter?

Cheers!

I'd say don't. Just go with a network. Not too many affiliates are into joining merchants directly due to stuff like knowing the merchant, payments etc...

I see what you mean. Its just I know a lot of webmasters who aren't big enough to be accepted as a merchant but I could generate them a lot of cash by setting up a site selling their stuff as well.

So im thinking about this sort of thing... My mate/associate sells blue widgets but his website is performing crap because he spends all his time dealing with the off-line running of the business... so I say... "Ill set-up a site selling your blue widgets for a percentage of the profit?" He says... "that sounds like a win win situation, do it!". But where do i go from there? Do i keep all the ordering on my site and do the drop shipping thing or do i transfer the sale to him in an affiliate stylee. Or is my business model completely floored?! Roll Eyes

Affiliate Future, Paid On Results etc... all take even the smallest merchants, with very low fees. That would also get them a lot more exposure!

I think it's flawed - see above. There are too many variables to go wrong. Unless you know the company and person very well (and trust them) what's to stop them shafting you?

Free setup options are available on the above networks (so I believe) and it'll get them loads more exposure - more sales etc...
