you've probably sussed this by now but seeing as I'm here... you need a screen recorder.

there's numerous ones available and it'll be trial and error finding one that works well and is straight forward to use. (just google 'screen reader')

there's one called CamStudio (at camstudio.org) which records all screen activity and converts to AVI. so if you're watching itv player on full screen, it'll capture the video and I assume the audio too.

ITVPlayer, Iplayer, all the terrestrial channels have the ability to have the files pulled down using different utilities that don't have the DRM embedded and thus are easier to work with.  (That doesn't mean that you are free to breach the copyright, indeed even editing a clip of your own appearance on TV you should ask the copyright holders permission to post the clip on your website)

For instance for the BBC Iplayer there is get_iplayer and get_iplayer PVR that allow you to download anything available from the BBC and save it out as an .mp4.  The program works by having the BBC website believe you are using an iphone/touch/pod to browse the site, we have used it to place video on our Ipod Nano ready for longhaul flights etc.
Get_Iplayer used to also support ITV programmes however that support has now been dropped. however, as stated there are utilities available for all the channels.  Just do a simple Google search for the one you might need.
