A useful selection of tools.

I've been trying http://www.searchenginegenie.com/sandbox-checker.htm on different sites and on different days and each time I get the following message:

Sorry we could not retrieve your results now due to search engine block, Please check Later
Has Google put a block on all such tools diverging this info or is there another more up-to-date tool that could be used?

Webnauts, are you saying that Google may ban you from its index if you use "misspelling of well-known web sites"?

Very solid list/tips indeed. Just found some new things from this post, but have never been able to get into the hand edited directory better known as DMOZ..guess one can keep trying? Wonder if SEO will change much in the next coming years...

Great list of SEO tools. It can be a laborious task though to optimize your website. However, you can always outsource your SEO works such link building, PPC, etc. at a cheap rate.

Before you begin optimizing your pages for Search Engines, consider that the following search engine optimization techniques are SPAM!

    * automatically generated doorway pages;
    * cloaking and false redirects;
    * keyword stuffing;
    * hidden text or hidden links;
    * pages loaded with irrelevant words;
    * duplicated content on multiple pages;
    * misspelling of well-known web sites;
    * unrelated and centralized link farms;
    * other methods that try to trick search engines.

If you use one of the above techniques, you might get short term results, but it's most likely that your site will be banned from search engines, and therefore you will put your business at severe risk.

Much better to say, BLACK HAT METHODS. =)

Webpage owners want their site to have the highest search engine results possible. They want to increase the amount of people who visit their site regularly and the best way to do that is through search engine optimization or SEO

I'm not sure if anyone has posted about this already, but SEOmoz,org's videos are a great help for understanding SEO. They discuss interesting topics on their Whiteboard Friday and are very useful for newbies like me. Smiley
