I completely rewrite each sentence of each article, and often restructure and add/delete bits, before submitting to a new directory but am finding that some articles are accepted but not indexed even after pinging them a couple of times. I only rewrite each article 5-6 times so it's not like there's dozens of them out there.

Should I just submit these articles EXACTLY as they are to another directory or even resubmit them to the same directory? Is the lack of indexing just because Google only indexes some articles in each directory - for example if they're on the home page when it caches it?

How long does it generally take in some pr3 directories for an article to get indexed?  Is it fair to say if it's not indexed in 3 weeks it won't be and you can then submit elsewhere? Or can some articles get indexed a month or so after being accepted?

Note: I ping each article once accepted.

It can take a few weeks for new articles to be indexed, in the same way as a new blog post can sometimes be a bit stubborn. I'd suggest linking to those articles with social media accounts, that should get them indexed quicker. If you're totally rewriting them then they shouldn't be dropped because of duplication.

Are you sure theyre not indexed? Have you done "Quoted" searches of chunks of the text in the article?

No I copy and paste the url into google. For most articles this comes up with the link, for a few it comes up with the SB link but no article; for the rest its a "not found".

One article I had in qwesz was unindexed after 3 weeks; I submitted it to a pr5 directory and it was indexed next day! I tried this with another qwesz unindexed article to another pr4 directory and a week later it's still unindexed.

Am not sure how long to leave articles (accepted but not indexed) before submitting them elsewhere.

Bookmarking the URL with Digg, sutmbleupon, and other popular bookmarking sites can help them to index faster.
