Am I right in thinking there is nothing wrong with putting links in each other's articles to sites that we all want to promote? I have articles on hubpages that I would be happy to place links in to anyone else's site if they are happy to do the same for me.
If you have social accounts that you would like to promote my sites using I would be more than happy to recipracate (spelling!). Can't see the downside to doing any of this and think we should make the most of the network of SEO types with have on here.

It's an interesting idea but links would need to be contextual and relevant. Maybe a google doc file could be setup and shared listing possible articles and blogs. My only concern would be that if the idea is abused then the articles and blogs could then be seen to be part of a small link farm.

Reciprocal links are pretty much devalued so this would have little SEO benefit if that's the main reason for doing it, if there are too many it could even work against you.

They wouldnt be reciprocal Boogaloo. They'd be one way links from article sites. So he drops a link in his widget article on hubbpages, to my sprocket site, and i drop a link in my sprocket article on squidoo, to his widget site. They would have to be relevant to do much good though. If you use the anchor text "sprocket" and "sprocket" isnt in the content, especially the title tag, then its not the best link and would need plenty of PR to do any good.
James, have you got any articles that relate to music or community stuff? I've got all sorts of different articles that i've done over the years.

In fact, while were on the subject, has anyone got any plumbing related links that theyd like to sort me out with? I'm sure ill have something i can offer in return... although not what you bunch of ladies are probably thinking! In fact, Martingreenwood and hawkwind dave are both lancaster bods! Any chance either of you can sort me out a lancaster plumbing related link and ill put you on my sites blog roll?

I agree with everything Matt said above. This kind of link exchange would work as its genuine one-way links and I agree with everyone who said it has to be relevant. The more of us that get involved with this the more chance that there will be people with relevant articles for each other.
J1 - Sorry for not getting back to you but will do soon.
Here are subjects that I have blogs/articles on:
Leadership Mentoring ID cards LED lighting Outdoor advertising Banner Printing Music (bang bang music which you already have a link on, matt) T-shirts Funny videos Letting agents/property/landlords (could be good for plumbing, matt?)
Quite a lot of topics there so if anyone has relevant websites to link to that would be useful for people reading them feel free to let me know.

It might be an idea to setup a Google Docs spreadsheet in the link club or as a spreadsheet of its own where members to the club can list their articles and subject matter.

no probs matt, just remind me in a PM, I've no internet at home at the moment but am planning on turning my old website into a directory in the near future, and can sort IBL's from a couple of others.

Cool. Cheers Dave!
Andy, there is already a sheet on the links document for link exchanges. People can drop their articles there if they want. Is there anybody out there who would like to join the link spreadsheet on Google Docs? Limited time membership offers (for known SEOers only tho).
