For increase the website traffic you can do the Social Bookmarking, Directories Submission, Fourm Posting, Blog Comments, etc. on daily basis.

There are many off page SEO techniques which are totally free and give better result for website ranking. You can use any link building practices to get traffic and backlinks with the use of quality description. You can also use social media websites for more and more traffics on your website.

For low quality traffic (ie unlikely to buy anything) try social bookmarking sites like stumbleupon, add helpful comments on relevant forums and blogs to promote your site or write Squidoo lenses/Hubpages to encourage people to see your site.

For targetted traffic of people interested inbuuying your product/service, either use SEO to get your site high in Google/Bing or use pay per click advertising (I've never tried ppc).

Its depends on website theme its a social then social media marketing is best way and if it us corporate then business listing is best way for its ......
