How would everyone value a website? If its not making money, what factors would you take into account? Obviously there are rankings and what I can make with those but it would be good to get everyone's views.

I dont think there is a hard and fast rule, i have bought and sold a fair few domains over the years and the bottom line comes down to what its worth to an individual. This can be a because its a particular name, perhaps a company name or an important keyword. Either way its almost always about money, the factors include:

1. What does it earn
2. What can it potentially earn
3. Can it add to my business in an identity way (which usually results in an end result of improving income)
4. Where does it rank
5. Does that traffic convert

The list goes on.

I can think of very few reasons that dont revolve around money directly or indirectly that would make a domain any more valueable than the standard registration fee.

Toying with the idea of selling this site http://www.primesolarpanels.co.uk/ purely because we dropship and the profit margins aren't high enough.  It only gets a couple of sales a month but I know it could do a lot better if some effort was put into it. It ranks well for '12v solar panel(s)'.

I'm loath to get rid of it but at the same time I just can't be bothered to do what needs doing to make it more successful.  If we had the money to bulk buy product it would make a lot more but by the time Paypal have finished taking their cut it's harldy worth it.

There's an analytcis account for it but fooked if I can find the log in details, if I was working for myself I'd fire me.
