I've been playing around with a new wordpress plugin and created yet another voucher code site, this one is a pretty simple setup using feeds from icodes.co.uk and a csv import plugin called csv2post.

I've then used a fair amount of custom fields to get the content from the feeds onto the site, it seems to work well.

Just ignore the fact that i've not finished the look and on-site SEO for the site but take a look and let me know what you think!

Does this mean you can update the codes from a simple csv upload? If so it could be something I might look into myself. I'm finding the manual task of updating codes in my current voucher code site a real bind and a task that will get bigger as the site grows

Thats what the site is doing, it would'nt work on my other code site www.vouchercodes.me.uk due to the way i set it up.

If you look at the new site and 'old' site you'll see what i mean, on the old site the structure is something like:

Merchant Page = Post
Voucher Codes = Comments

On the new site its:

Merchant Page = Category
Voucher Codes = Posts

I guess if your format does'nt fit you could change the site and redirect all old urls.

Just me playing around really at this stage, vouchercodes.me.uk has become a bit of a monster and dropped its rankings so i'm just playing around with a new site. I did / do have plans for a monster site using the csv import plugin but it'll take some working and i've been having problems with the formatting of Affiliate Window feeds.

The csv2post plugin i'm using now is different from the same one i've mentioned before that has the same name!! Very confusing i know!

With the new plugin you really don't need to manipulate the csv feed at all, you just select which bits of the feed you want to go where ie title, tags, category, content etc (You can setup different layout for different items, for example if your inputing a feed from a book shop you'll want to display that differently to the data you import from a sweet shop.)

All other fields in your csv go into the custom fields of the post so can be called from elsewhere in your template etc.

Its quite a powerful plugin, there is a free version you can play around with, the paid version costs £49.99.

I will warn you though its still under development but is looking good IMO.

Loading the discount codes is a ball ache, so i redesigned my site and i have a program in excel that generates the sql format for direct import in the database.

Typically i can upload 300 codes, with a bit of title manipulation in about half an hour. Then the admin program on my site checks for duplicate codes, new merchants and expired codes and deals with them.

In what way do you mean? Something that automates the process of activating links as blog posts are published?
